Illustration and design of Neil Gaiman's book "Neverwhere"

Created in 2015 as a graduation project at the Moscow State University of Printing Arts on the Faculty of Graphic Arts. The fully illustrated book was printed in four copies. All illustrations were made using the technique of linocut.
During the process of designing the book, extensive research was carried out into the history of London’s underground, as well as its engineering structure and topography. Many of the engravings depict real locations beneath London, but since the book is a work of fantasy, many fictional elements were also introduced into the depicted world.
The fully illustrated edition includes 63 linocuts: 20 chapter openings, 20 endings, 13 full-page illustrations, a large title spread with a panorama of London, and a cover where all elements are also hand-carved.
Each chapter ending illustration features a symbol of the London Underground, with the chapter’s storyline creatively incorporated into it.
